How do you spell...

Katie came to me this afternoon and asked "How do you spell "peas"?"

I asked, "well, how do you think you spell it?"

She said, "um... P O O 8".

Yes, that's an EIGHT. How do you explain that there are no numbers in the spelling of a word? What could I do, I nodded and smiled...just nodded and smiled.
